Nature’s Platform – Basically, you have all been pooping incorrectly.  This device will rectify that situation and get your bowels moving properly. “Recommended by doctors and yoga teachers for easier and more complete elimination.”

I share this Godzilla haiku, but I know the true depth of its meaning is lost on you plebeians:

The Mathroom – Passive-agressive story problems

Just a standard Rubiks’ Cube, but instead of colors, the sides are in Braille – Solving this is probably what having an aneurism feels like.

Sorry, a lot of these are old, but the knowledge dump at the new job is staggering.  I have 4 days to absorb 9 years worth of accumulated data and projects.  But at least I’ll have my VERY OWN cubicle…after the other guys moves his stuff out of it.  Maybe.

Will you survive the zombie apocalypse? – Keep this handy flow chart with you to stay ahead of the competition

Skeleton bike -  Ha!  Simply fantastic.

The rest of these are YouTube links.  Again, sorry.

Large-scale model train with fully functional snowblower – A toy that every kid wants, but can afford until he’s retired and his mortgage is paid off

She balances 15 books on her head, recites pi to the 100th digit, and solves a Rubik’s cube – SIMULTANEOUSLY

Most epic fight in the history of epic fights – Bruce Lee vs.  Chuck Norris.  With a small kitten as the referee.  No, I did not make any of that up.

Bourne RiverStar – Backpack-sized hydroelectric generator

Japanese death trucks – OK, I know this one is a little old, but I’m trying to ease into this daily posting thing.  Essentially, the Animal Control people in Japan have these trucks with airtight cages.  They put stray animals in them and then flood the cage with carbon dioxide.  The animal passes out from lack of oxygen and is dead by the time they get back to the office.  It’s probably a good idea, but still kinda messed up when you think about it.

Greece declares pedophilia a disability – Head.  Hurts.  Too many.   Jokes…

Maybe it’s just my viking/druid heritage speaking, but…

…I really, really want this.

Spirit Trees

Essentially, this is a planter for a tree.  It has some nutrients embedded in a matrix of coconut shells for support, and you set it on the ground, water it, and grow a tree.  The twist here is that it was also designed to hold the cremated remains of a person.

Now, I know that the process of cremation isn’t going to leave behind any fertilizer-type nutrients.  It’s mainly heavy metals and calcium phosphate, nothing that your average leafy-green plant would consider delicious noms, so the tree itself is not going to consist much of your dead relative.  However, cemeteries are for the living, and I’ve spent the last hour thinking about how much more respectful and wonderful a cemetery would be if it were filled with rows and rows of trees, rather than lumps of gray granite.  Take a minute and imagine the difference for yourself; I’ll wait.

When I die, if you want to show respect for my life, plant a tree.

Mutant rights. No, really.

So, the podcast linked below discusses the case of two lawyers who noticed that the import tax for “dolls” (toys that depict human beings) is 12%, whereas the import tax for “toys” (toys that depict something other than humans, e.g. robots or vehicles) is only 6.8%.  They knew that their customer was classifying their products as “dolls” and if they could get them to re-classify them as “toys”, they could save a ton of cash.

The customer?  Marvel.  The “dolls”?  X-Men action figures.

So, here we have a real-life, honest-to-goodness case of the debate on whether mutants are human beings or not.  And it would benefit Marvel, creator of said mutants, to admit that they really are NOT human.  It makes me wonder about some point in the future when mutants are actually discovered, and some lawyer pulls out a case from way back in 2011 that proved that mutants are not human beings.

It could happen.

Germany cannot stop stealing my ideas

I’ve spent the last year telling pretty much anyone that would stand still and listen that we needed to develop an inductive charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.  Until battery capacity increases tenfold over what it currently is, there is no way that the unwashed masses will truly accept electric cars as an option.

Then today I see this:  http://www.gizmag.com/inductive-charging-real-world-test/20911/

Bah.  That’s my third million-dollar idea that Germany has stolen from me.  NOT FAIR, PEOPLE WITH INVESTMENT CAPITAL AND BUSINESS SKILLS.
